Cesar E. Chavez was born March 31, 1927, a second generation American who spent his life working for the civil rights of migrant farm workers and for social justice. As part of his efforts, he founded the United Farm Workers. Today, eight states celebrate Chavez Day, with a number of activities throughout the month of April.
